Size Guide
Finding the right fit should feel simple. Use the guide below as a general reference, then check the product description for any item-specific fit notes or measurements.
Because swimwear styles vary in coverage, stretch, rise, cup shape, and silhouette, the same size may fit differently across different designs. If you are between sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger size for more comfort.
How to Measure
Use a soft measuring tape and keep it close to the body without tightening it. Measure in centimeters or inches.
- Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level.
- Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
- Torso: For one-piece swimsuits, measure from the top of your shoulder, down through the fullest part of the bust and crotch, and back up to the starting point if you need to assess torso length.

Fit Notes by Product Type
Bikinis and Separates
For two-piece swimwear, prioritize the measurement of the area that needs the most coverage. If your bust and hip measurements fall into different sizes, consider choosing separate sizes when the product allows it. For fixed-size sets, use the larger of the two recommended sizes.
One-Piece Swimsuits
Prioritize bust and hip measurements, then consider torso length. If you are tall or have a longer torso, sizing up may provide a more comfortable fit. A one-piece that feels tight through the shoulders or crotch may need a larger size even when the bust and hips fit within a smaller size.
Cover-Ups, Skirts and Resort Sets
Cover-ups and resort pieces may have a relaxed, adjustable, or elasticated fit. Check the product description for details such as adjustable ties, stretch, lining, and intended fit.
Men's Swim Shorts
Measure the waist where you normally wear the waistband. If you are between sizes, choose the larger size for a more relaxed fit. For drawstring styles, the waist may accommodate a broader range than the flat measurement suggests.
Important Product-Specific Note
This chart is a general Velmara reference, not a substitute for the measurements of a specific item. Some supplier charts are based on body measurements, while others show finished garment measurements. Product-specific measurements may therefore differ from this general chart.
Before purchasing each product, confirm:
- Whether the supplier's chart shows body measurements or finished garment measurements.
- The actual size range available for that product.
- Whether the fabric has stretch.
- Whether the item is lined or double-lined.
- Whether cups, straps, waistbands, or ties are adjustable.
- The product's actual bust, waist, hip, inseam, rise, skirt length, or torso measurements where relevant.
- The supplier's permitted measurement tolerance.
If You Are Between Sizes
Choose the larger size for a more comfortable fit, especially for one-piece swimsuits, non-adjustable styles, less-stretch fabrics, or longer torsos. For adjustable bikinis and tie-side bottoms, the smaller size may work if you prefer a more fitted look.
